Solitária is the continuation of the performance-shows that Alma d'Arame has been staging since its inception. This space for experiment, that is becoming our trade mark, is always open for exploration and to respond to the needs of finding new narratives.
We begin each one in its own solitary space. On the one hand, there is the narrative, the theatre, the puppet, the being and the object; on the other hand there is computer programming, kinetics and multimedia. Starting from each one's own creative solitary space, we see the growth of a common creative space.
We all have and need this time to ourselves. It is when we find our own space, our very own, and where we can reminisce, hide, think, feel, retain. Here we reach new stages. This is what this show is about.
It is in this space for experiment that this solitary clash between man and machine develops; and it's this clash between real and virtual that will lead us to experimentation and the quest for new narratives. The kinetic movement of the body and the way it fills the empty space will construct a visual and sound narrative.
"SBut if, in ignorance, you fail to comprehend, speak not; but make with your barbarian hand some sign".
Aeschylus, Agamemnon
Alma d'Arame is an arts non-profit organization, established in 2006, in Montemor-o-Novo, Alentejo.
Its aim is to create awareness for the stage arts, and for puppetry in particular.
From its inception it has been cooperating with the local authorities in training, creating and staging shows.
In its aim to create new audiences, even in farm remote places, Alma d'Arame has been staging shows in rural settings and since 2008, it has been host to the Marionetas de Montemor-o-Novo meeting.
At its core, Alma d'Arame's art seeks for a language between tradition and modernity, and has been following this guideline ever since.
The differences in language show new paths for artistic fruition and lead to new forms of creation and to the art debate.
