What if our humanity was hidden, not in our will, but in our weakness, in the frightening dependence on others and on the environment? What if this idea was so frightening that we needed a puppet to tell it? A puppet in which we are projecting our desire for omnipotence but in which we can only see fragility, our image.

A man and a woman lend their hands to give life to a puppet. It is a child, a puppet who resembles a child. Seated between the man and the woman, on their knees, the child discovers and takes over his new hands. Two hands for three persons. Soon, confusion sets in. Which gesture belongs to him? Who decides, who thinks, who speaks? Through this trio, like a family unit, we stage a young puppet boy who is going to try to free himself, very quickly, from those who gave him life. He thinks that he needs nobody, but he is going to fail. Since without his puppeteers, he is only an inert puppet.

Far from sanctimonious words, we are questioning the fragility of Man, who in the image of this puppet, appears dependent and "manipulated" by all sorts of elements which are outside of it. Modelled first by his parents, but more extensively by the family, societal, and political context in which he is evolving, is man really the master of his destiny? Who are we without the others? What are the factors which drove me to make such and such a choice, to take such and such an action? Where is our responsibility? We would not reply of course to any of these questions, we open the door to reflect on various answers to the questions.

MICHEL VILLEE

Comedian and puppeteer, Michel Villée has led collaborations in very diverse areas (mainly in theatre and movement work) and this within several companies and collectives. For some time, he has been creating his own projects within three object and puppet theatre companies, Une Tribu, Dyo and Entrée de Secours. He also works regularly as a play coach or a puppet manipulation coach.

NOEMIE VINCART

After one year with Insas, she joined a collective, creative project called «Rue du Nil» in France and in Tunisia. She then filled out her career path through a variety of internships and training opportunities (Neville Tranter, Agnes Limbos, Gavin Glover, Boris Rabey, and Isabella Souppart.) Following an internship at CIFAS directed by Galin Stoev, she became his assistant for three years, during the course of which the projects «Antigone», «Oxygène», and then «Tchekologie» were created, in which she was on stage as a comedian. She worked for 3 years as a puppeteer in "L'Enfant qui ..." by Patrick Masset (Festival Circa, Festival d'Avignon, Circo Price Madrid, Festival Winterfest Salzbourg, Festival Tempo St Leu, Théâtre Royal de Namur, and Le quai Angers) and as an assistant to Natacha Belova («Le Nez» by Pascal Pointet, and «Pinocchio le Bruissant» by Pietro Varrasso). In 2012, she created la Compagnie DYO with Michel Villée. (www.compagniedyo.be) and in 2014, la Compagnie Entrée de secours, with Natacha Belova and Michel Villée. In 2015, she participated in the manipulation of the puppet, in the capacity of handling the exterior view, for «La course» of the collective entitled «Une tribu».
