Isabel Alves Costa Creative Grant 2016

A joint initiative between FIMP and Comédias do Minho in co-production with Teatro Municipal do Porto.

Festival Internacional de Marionetas do Porto this year's programme begins with Segredo de Simónides – Colecção de Coleccionadores by Raquel André, the winner of the 2nd Isabel Alves Costa Creative Grant.

BCIAC is a new platform for the creation and presentation of innovative projects within the performative arts in Portugal.

The aim of this initiative is also to mark the notable legacy of Isabel Alves Costa, artistic director, curator and founder of the FIMP, and a pivotal figure in the foundation and assertion of the three institutions involved.

Simónides are revealed through their collection.

Raquel André collects Simónides' secrets that she found in Vale do Minho. We collect whatever slips our hands. What kind of a memory may an object have?

Raquel André collects the collectors; she asks them to tell her a secret, to tell her how is it like to be a collector. She asks them to let her collect them.

In Segredo de Simónides the "other" is collected and everything that cannot be kept is kept indeed.

Raquel André was born in1986 in Caneças. She is a collector and an artist. Her work experience includes amateur theatre at Malaposta; some TV and cinema appearances; training in theatre and dance and several works with Portuguese artists and directors. In 2011 she travelled to Brazil to work with the Cia dos Atores. She has finished her MA on Collecting on Performing Arts at the UFRJ.
