Death is forgotten on the fast pace of everyday life, in the backing of from nature. In large cities particularly, this reality is concealed and becomes something that though unavoidable, appears to be conceivable to postpone, constantly.
In large cities, people die more and more alone.
On reflecting on death we are inevitably faced with a reflexion on life, on being alive. We gather our thoughts on the ancient rituals of death and accept it as part of a natural process.
This project aims to be a praise to life, to the reunion with simplicity, to playing, to loving, to the pleasure found on our daily routines, to reminisce without regrets and in peace. It aims to redeem the possibility of saying goodbye.
Looking death in the eyes, feeding it some hot soup and hold its hand.
Teatro de Marionetas do Porto was created in 1988. The company follows a non-conventional approach to puppetry, regarding puppet theatre as a poetic language that evokes contemporaneity. In 2013, by occasion of its 25th anniversary, the Teatro de Marionetas do Porto fulfilled the dream of its founder João Paulo Seara Cardoso (1956-2010), and opened the Museu das Marionetas do Porto.
